Yash’s new action drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has received a lot of attention over the past few months and according to recent reports (see listings on Fandango) it is 3 hours and 15 minutes long. The length of the film has been a big thrill for fans and early advance bookings have started in some areas.
If the reported runtime is confirmed, Toxic will be among the longest mainstream Indian releases in recent years. Large action dramas with extensive storytelling usually have long runtimes, giving filmmakers the opportunity to delve into character arcs, world-building and high-octane action sequences in more depth.
Toxic is Yash’s first film after the huge success of the KGF franchise, directed by Geetu Mohandas. So far, the movie has generated great buzz on the basis of its sleek promotional material, huge international production and large-scale cast of Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth.
A 3-hour 15-minute runtime has drawn mixed reviews on the internet. While many fans say the long duration is a great thing for a movie full of action and drama, they wait for official word from the makers before the runtime is judged as final.
Early advance bookings are a sign of confidence in the box office prospects of the movie. With Yash becoming very popular after KGF: Chapter 2, trade analysts expect Toxic to be one of the biggest openings of the year in many languages.
