Ajith Kumar to Team Up with Shankar? Daredevil Followed by New Project in 2027

Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar is said to be working on another big collaboration after Daredevil and there’s speculation that the celebrated filmmaker Shankar might direct his next movie. If the reports are true, it would be the first time Ajith and Shankar work together and will be the main talking point in Tamil cinema.

Ajith is now preparing for Daredevil, his next film with director Adhik Ravichandran. It was officially announced earlier this month and Shalini Ajithkumar, Ajith's wife, is making her debut in the production of Brave Hearts Production.

According to the latest industry reports, Ajith is going to begin shooting Daredevil in September 2026 in which his parts are expected to be done in a rather tight schedule. Once the project is over, another film will be shot for him, and January 2027 could be a good starting point.

The biggest surprise in the current buzz is the report of director Shankar being involved. Shankar has approached Ajith for a commercial mass entertainer, possibly with a reasonable budget in comparison to some of the director's recent big-scale movies, reports say. Talks on remuneration of the project are ongoing.

But fans should consider the Shankar-Ajith project as unconfirmed for now. There are a lot of projects being discussed in connection to Ajith's post-Daredevil lineup. One of the other major possibilities is a collaboration with Venkat Prabhu and even reports suggest the project can be tied to Mankatha 2.

But the possibility of an Ajith-Shankar combination has generated so much excitement. Shankar is known for large-scale commercial cinema and Ajith has made himself one of Tamil cinema's biggest action stars. A collaboration between the two could bring Shankar’s visual spectacle and social themes together with Ajith’s mass appeal.

At this time there is no official announcement from Ajith Kumar, Shankar, or the respective production teams on the January 2027 project. The expected lineup may change as discussions progress. Until an official announcement follows, the Shankar-Ajith combination is probably nothing more than speculation, if not a real project.
