Ashika Ranganath Opens Up About Vishwambhara, Her Fan-Girl Moment With Trisha and Excitement for Sardar 2

Ashika Ranganath is steadily expanding her presence in South Indian cinema, and now she has opened up about two major projects that have brought a new chapter to her career. After Megastar Chiranjeevi’s adventure fantasy movie Vishwambhara, Ashika is also preparing for Sardar 2, the action spy thriller directed by PS Mithran and starring Karthi.

For Ashika, Sardar 2 is special because it takes her into a genre and performance space that she hasn’t explored extensively before. The actor said that the film differs from the commercial entertainers she’s previously worked with in that there is a content-driven narrative, big scale, and a lot of action.

As for Sardar 2, Ashika said she is excited to try an action spy thriller for the first time. “The movie is an ambitious production and has very strong feelings about these characters.”

Ashika explained that although she has been in a few commercial films, Sardar 2 is different because the story is content-driven. The movie also has a lot of action so that she can try a different type of acting that she’s never done before.

She believes audiences are looking for films that combine scale with strong content. That’s the kind of combination which, she believes, makes Sardar 2 a great project to collaborate with.

Working alongside Karthi

Sardar 2 marks Ashika’s first work with Karthi, and she has been pleased that he is so committed to his craft. She was particularly pleased that he makes sure to pay attention to scenes and sequences and always wants to improve them.

Karthi is very passionate about cinema, Ashika said, and his involvement goes beyond just performing his role. His attention to detail and clarity about what he wants was something she noticed during the shoot, she said.

Karthi's personality away from the camera, she also praised. As an established actor, she found him humble, simple and grounded. His humility was one of the things that made him memorable for Ashika.

The film has some of the leading female actors, including Malavika Mohanan and Rajisha Vijayan. However, Ashika explained that her character is in the present day of the story, and she did not have combined scenes with the two actresses as their characters are related to different timelines.

Her parts mostly involve Karthi and SJ Suryah. Ashika also pointed out that Sardar 2 does not necessarily lean on the notion of a single male or female lead. Rather, there are many important characters in the story.

This aspect of the film seems to be one of the reasons Ashika is particularly enthusiastic about the project.

A special place for Vishwambhara

Ashika has also completed her work on Vishwambhara, the Chiranjeevi-starrer with Trisha in a big role. Her experience on the film allowed her to work on another ambitious South Indian production.

Her admiration for Trisha also produced a great fan-girl moment on the set. Ashika has openly admitted how beautiful she found the veteran actress, showing how much she enjoys sharing screen space and working with someone she admires.

Kannada cinema remains close to her heart.

Ashika Ranganath is now in the Tamil and Telugu film industry as well, but Kannada cinema remains very much in her life. She was born and brought up in Bengaluru and started her career in the Kannada film industry.

For Ashika, Kannada is more than just the language in which she started acting. She considers Bengaluru her home and describes Kannada cinema as a space associated with comfort and familiarity.

She also admitted that she misses being at home while working mostly outside Karnataka. Her ideal routine would be waking up at home, enjoying homemade food, going to work and returning home.

With Vishwambhara and Sardar 2, Ashika Ranganath is now entering another important phase of her career. While one project connects her with the fantasy-adventure world of Chiranjeevi and Trisha, the other allows her to experiment with action and spy-thriller elements alongside Karthi. The contrasting projects could further showcase the actor's versatility as she continues to build her career across the South Indian film industries.
