The Maari franchise has a huge audience among Tamil cinema audiences, the most popular being Dhanush and his style of eccentric, swagger-filled local gangster.
Balaji Mohan directed the first film and Kajal Aggarwal was the female lead, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.
According to recent industry news, Dhanush has come up with a one-line idea for Balaji Mohan and has asked the filmmaker to convert it into a full-fledged screenplay.
The story is still in the development stage so if all goes as planned, Maari 3 could go on floors next year. The project has not yet been announced by the company and the details are based on reports and industry speculation.

Will Anirudh return for Maari 3
