The Tamil film industry witnessed many successful marriages between Tamil film actors and actresses of different languages and cultures of different backgrounds and different ethnicities. Some of the actors and actresses have also been known from different languages in and out of the industry and their past generations (Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Sri Lanka, to name a few of them) to be able to marry each other and become famous in the Tamil film industry.

Actor-director Ponvannan, known for his supporting and villain roles in Tamil films, is married to actress Saranya Ponvannan. Saranya was born in Chennai in a Christian family and is the daughter of Malayalam film director A. B. Raj, who is from Alappuzha, Kerala. Suriya and Jyothika, one of Tamil cinema’s most loved couples, were married in 2006. Many people think Jyothika is Tamil, but she was born and raised in Mumbai.
