Vijay's Jana Nayagan has been a huge box office success so far and has soared at box office because of the huge hype that has been created for it. Directed by H. Vinoth, the political action drama was released worldwide and with huge fanfare, sold-out shows and good advance booking. Although the official day one collections are yet to be declared, early trade estimates indicate that this is going to be one of the biggest openings of the year.
The film had a huge occupancy at Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and other international markets. There were packed theatres for the morning and afternoon shows and fans created special celebrations including music, fireworks and massive cut-outs of Vijay outside cinema halls.
Record-Breaking Advance Bookings
Even before it was released, Jana Nayagan had already created history on the ticket counters. The film sold more than 6.5 lakh tickets in advance bookings in India and generated over ₹20 crore gross pre-sales, making it one of Vijay’s biggest advance booking performers.
The film was released on an enormous scale with nearly 8,000 shows across India including more than 3,500 shows in Tamil Nadu alone. Due to the strong pre-release demand, multiplexes and single-screen theatres reported houseful shows from the very first screening.
Day 1 Box Office Estimates
Although the official collection figures will be released after all shows are completed, trade analysts estimate that Jana Nayagan is likely to earn:
India Net Collection: ₹40–48 crore. India Gross Collection: ₹50–60 crore. Worldwide Gross Collection: ₹90–110 crore.
If these estimates are correct, the film will comfortably rank among the biggest Tamil cinema openings of 2026 and strengthen Vijay's reputation as one of India’s most bankable stars.
Strong Audience Response
Vijay fans are rooting for him to make his way in the film and they praise his screen presence, action sequences, emotional moments and strong dialogues. Meanwhile, on social media, videos of fans celebrating outside theatres are trending in Jana Nayagan.
People have mixed to positive reviews, but the audience has generally been positive in their response to the film, mostly because the mass appeal and theatrical experience that the film is able to provide is strong and the movie is well-received, and that’s a lot of the main reason for the positive response of the audience.
Can Jana Nayagan enter the ₹100 Crore Club?
Given the weekend in store and the strong word-of-mouth of Vijay’s fans, Jana Nayagan should continue to gain pace for the next few days. On the present trend, the movie is predicted to make it to ₹100 crore worldwide gross on opening weekend.
The actual Day 1 box office figures will be released by the makers and trade trackers after the last shows have ended. Until then, the current numbers are trade estimates based on occupancy, advance bookings and distributor reports.
