September 2026 Tamil Movie Releases: Immortal, Sardar 2, Mandaadi & Meesaya Murukku 2 Set to Enter Theatres
Tamil cinema is in high gear in September 2026 with the most eagerly awaited movies coming up and many must-watch films fro entertaiment. There is a lot of action, thriller, drama and entertainment in the movies in that month as well.
The most discussed are GV Prakash Kumar’s Immortal, Karthi’s Sardar 2, Soori’s Mandaadi, and Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi’s Meesaya Murukku 2. Recently these movies have been named as the most eagerly awaited Tamil theatrical releases in September.
Immortal – September 4
The September movie rush begins with Immortal starring GV Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar. The movie will be released on September 4, 2026.
In the last few months, the project has attracted attention for its intriguing idea and visual presentation with GV Prakash Kumar as the lead. Immortal will be the first major release in this lineup and will set the stage for what should be a packed Tamil box office month at the studio.
Sardar 2 - September 10
Next is Karthi’s Sardar 2, the eagerly awaited sequel of the 2022 spy-action thriller Sardar. The film is produced by P.S. Mithran and Karthi is in his dual role with S. J. Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath and Rajisha Vijayan.
The movie will bring a larger action and espionage experience and is one of the most awaited Tamil releases of the month.
Mandaadi – September 10
Soori’s Mandaadi is also coming on September 10. The film is a major Tamil release, very competitive for the box office weekend.
Soori's growing popularity as a lead actor has brought some interest in the project and so now people are waiting for the film to hit the screen.
Meesaya Murukku 2 - September 25
The month will conclude with Meesaya Murukku 2 on September 25. The sequel will certainly get a lot of interest from HipHop Tamizha Aadhi and fans of the original film.
The combination of music, youth-oriented entertainment and nostalgia for the first one could make the sequel a more interesting one in the latter part of September.

With so many big movies coming within a few weeks, September 2026 is one of the most important months of the year in Tamil cinema. Immortal opens on September 4, followed by Sardar 2 and Mandaadi on September 10 and Meesaya Murukku 2 on September 25.
The release calendar also coincides with recent discussions in the Tamil film industry about theatrical and OTT release windows. A proposed industry stoppage from September 1 was postponed after discussions with the Tamil Nadu government, easing the pressure on September theatrical releases.
