Trisha Krishnan is also expected to attend the first day of actor-turned politician Vijay’s eagerly awaited film *Jana Nayagan* in Chennai, which is going to add more buzz to the film’s already big-ticket release. The first show starts today at 9 am, and Trisha is expected to be there as Vijay’s last film as a lead actor will hit cinemas.

Trisha and Vijay have a long-standing professional relationship and first worked together in the 2004 blockbuster *Ghilli* and then reunited for films like *Thirupaachi*, *Aathi* and *Kuruvi*. Their last major collaboration was the action film in 2023 *Leo* while Trisha also made a cameo in Vijay’s *GOAT*.

The two actors have also been the subject of dating rumours in recent months. But neither Trisha nor Vijay has publicly confirmed the speculation. Her presence in the first show of *Jana Nayagan* is certainly going to attract attention from fans and the Tamil film industry.

The movie, managed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, should have a huge worldwide release. Industry sources said that *Jana Nayagan* could be released in more than 30 countries. Producer Venkat K Narayana had said in an interview to NDTV that the team would be looking to release it worldwide in about 7,000 to 8,000 screens.

Fingers crossed that the title card would declare Vijay as “Tamil Nadu CM Vijay” instead of “Thalapathy Vijay” in the film. This change is in line with Vijay’s political career and his current position as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, as per the sources cited in the report.

The film has also been certified in an updated form by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The updated runtime is also said to be 3 hours, 3 minutes and 52 seconds after the additional footage was added. There are some rumours that the longer runtime can be related to the new title card being added but KVN Productions has not publicly commented on this.

The biggest question now is if *Jana Nayagan* can beat Vijay’s previous box office benchmarks. His 2023 film *Leo* earned a total of around Rs 606 crore worldwide, with *GOAT* earning around Rs 458 crore. *Jana Nayagan* has several factors working in its favour: it is Vijay’s last film as a lead actor, it is available in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously and there is a lot of foreign demand as well as very low competition at the box office.

In many states, advance bookings have started, including Karnataka, where the first shows are scheduled for 6 am on July 23. Ticket sales began on Wednesday morning in Hosur and Krishnagiri and fans traveling to Karnataka for the early-morning screenings will also be coming.

With a huge fan following, strong advance bookings and the emotional weight of Vijay’s last lead role, *Jana Nayagan* is due for a big opening. If it can eventually overtake *Leo* and become Vijay’s biggest-ever box office success, it will depend on audience response, sustained occupancy and word of mouth after release.
