Suriya’s upcoming film Vishwanath & Sons is also becoming a very profitable pre-release venture for Sithara Entertainments, with the film earning around ₹215 crore in total business through its theatrical and non-theatrical rights.

According to the estimates on the rumor mill, the film has been made on a budget of about ₹130 crore and the theatrical rights are about ₹90 crore. The non-theatrical business is also reported to be around ₹125 crore which brings the total pre-release business to around ₹215 crore. But these values of the deal have not been independently verified through official trade disclosures so should be taken as reported figures.

The non-theatrical breakdown is ₹85 crore from Netflix digital rights, ₹12 crore from audio rights and ₹28 crore from satellite rights in different languages. If these numbers are correct, the film would have already received a significant portion of its investment before its theatrical release.

Directed by Venky Atluri, Vishwanath & Sons stars Suriya, Mamitha Baiju, Radhika Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon. The film is produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. The film’s production plans and Netflix digital collaboration were announced but the monetary value of individual rights is not known.

The movie has also generated considerable buzz through its promotional material. Suriya’s look, the family-oriented premise and Venky Atluri’s past work have helped build expectations. The film is said to deal with relationships, feelings and family dynamics with Suriya playing Sanjay Vishwanath, an international pistol shooter.

If the reported ₹215 crore total business is accurate, the economics of the project could be particularly favourable for the producers. With a reported ₹130 crore production budget, the difference between the estimated budget and pre-release business suggests a significant cushion even before theatrical revenue is fully realised.

However, pre-release business should not be equated with producer profit. Distribution structures, commissions, marketing expenses, financing costs and the terms of individual rights deals can significantly affect the final profitability of a film.

Vishwanath & Sons is scheduled for theatrical release in August 2026, and Netflix will hold its digital rights post-theatrical.

Now, with strong pre-release buzz and ₹215 crore worth of business already secured, the focus will now turn to the film's theatrical performance. If the audience response is favourable, Vishwanath & Sons could be a big commercial success for Sithara Entertainments and Suriya and further reinforce the film's position in the highly competitive Tamil cinema industry.
