Raksha Bandhan is a festival of sisters bonding, but for actress Eisha Singh it was a very emotional and painful memory. When she celebrated Raksha Bandhan 2026 with her brother Rudraksh, she remembered the very painful loss of her cousin brother Chiku. Eisha told me that Chiku died in an accident when she was on Bigg Boss 18 and her family was devastated.
Eisha Singh was talking about her bond with her brothers while she was recalling the tragedy. She never publicly spoke about the loss before, the actress said. She was in the Bigg Boss house at the time, so her family decided not to tell her because the tragic event would hurt her emotionally, especially when she was already feeling all the pressure of being away from home.
Eisha felt Chiku's death only came to her later, she said. She added that nobody in her family had the guts to tell her about it at first. Eventually, Moon was the one who spoke to her about the tragedy. Eisha said she left home only recently in order to join the reality show and already found the emotional rollercoaster very hard.
The actress said her cousin brother Chiku was named Chiku and he was around the same age as Moon. He unfortunately met with an accident and died while she was still in the Bigg Boss house. The loss was particularly hard for her because the circumstances of his death were not known to her and she was away from her family.
The last message she had received from Chiku was particularly emotional for Eisha. She recalled he had messaged her on Diwali and Raksha Bandhan to say he missed her and when he would get the chance to tie rakhi. Eisha says she had recently thought about that message and it’s something she still carries with her.
She got teary-eyed as she recalled her cousin and said she really misses him. This emotional revelation put a personal dimension to her Raksha Bandhan celebrations. And although the festival is normally associated with happiness and family reunions, Eisha’s memories also showed how those festivals can bring back the memory of loved ones we miss.
Earlier, Eisha had been celebrating Raksha Bandhan with her brother Rudraksh. He surprised her on the sets of Juhi Mui in Mumbai, which meant that she could celebrate the festival with her sibling despite her busy work life. The siblings also spoke about their relationship, memories and the importance of having brothers and sisters in one's life.
Eisha said she feels lucky to have brothers and that sibling relationships are one of life’s greatest gifts. Brothers and sisters may argue and fight a lot but the bond is so special because siblings can eventually become close friends, the actress said. She also spoke about the sweet side of sibling relationships, and especially brother and sister relationships being special.
Raksha Bandhan 2026 was therefore a celebration of contrasting emotions for Eisha. Her brother Rudraksh’s surprise brought joy to the event, but memories of Chiku brought her emotional pain back to her own loss and she remembered it as a very personal one. And so seeing her cousin publicly for the first time also gave fans a glimpse into the personal experiences that she has had in her life away from television.
As Eisha and Rudraksh exchanged Raksha Bandhan wishes, the actress also remembered her cousin who died very young. Her words showed that, even after years, the memories of loved ones are still very strong on festivals that bring families together. For Eisha, Chiku’s final message of wanting his rakhi is very poignant.
