With just days to go for Bigg Boss Kannada Season 13 launch, the fans are waiting eagerly. The makers had a pre-launch press conference on August 30.
The host Kichcha Sudeep had spoken in advance on August 30 on the eve of the launch of the new season and he answered a variety of questions related to the upcoming season’s launch date and discussed the much-talked about new segment ‘Agnipariksha’ which is being mentioned in the title sequence.
The special pre-selection show has created a lot of buzz among viewers and aspiring contestants alike. But it has also attracted criticism, with some participants and viewers saying that contestants were treated harshly and placed in humiliation during the selection process. As a result, several questions on the controversy were asked to Sudeep during the media interview.
Responding to the criticism, Sudeep chose a thoughtful and balanced stance. He also referred to the show’s name ‘Agnipariksha’ which means “trial by fire” and says that the process is supposed to be hard. Just as one has to pass difficult tests to get to paradise, contestants are also going to have to face so much stress in order to get in the Bigg Boss house, he said.
Agnipariksha is a concept that is intended to identify individuals who have resilience, resolve and the ability to perform under pressure, Sudeep said. Judges in such a format are strict and demanding because they judge contestants on the basis of their performance and whether they will be selected to one of Kannada television’s biggest reality shows.
But the actor did admit that a few situations might have been handled more gently. And the format needs toughness, he said, but he didn’t say everything they show in the program was flawless. “Maybe some situations could have been handled with more softness,” he said, but he stressed that the challenge is what matters.
Sudeep said the contestants who fought through the tough tasks and criticism are the ones who make it to the next level. They have shown the qualities needed to thrive in the Bigg Boss house he said. Some of them could be contenders for the season’s winner he said.
Sudeep said in real life everybody faces hard times and responsibilities. As long as people complain and complain about problems all the time, they don’t see the opportunities and growth that can come from those difficulties. When you face that up in the face of adversity head on it most often leads to growth and success.
The actor reflected on his own life and said he had had many hard times and the world was too hard for him to go through in his life. At the time, some of the advice from elders was harsh or critical, he said, but now he thinks the most important guidance was the good advice. Such experiences he said were in line with the feedback and judgment he received during Agnipariksha, and so what seems harsh in the moment could end up being valuable in the end.
For Season 13, Bigg Boss Kannada introduced Agnipariksha as a new platform to select contestants from the general public. Experienced and aspiring contestants are brought into the room and evaluated through tasks, interviews and challenges. Former Bigg Boss contestants and celebrities Vinay Gowda, Chandan Gowda, Sangeetha Sringeri and Shruti serve as judges among others in the special selection show.
Those who impress the judges will be able to get in Bigg Boss Kannada 13 house under the commoners’ category. With the Agnipariksha controversies still raging and the season coming up, all eyes are on which contestants will be able to pass the “trial by fire” and make their mark on the reality show.
