The revelation surprised many viewers, particularly since the prize money announced during the finale was much higher than the amount Prashanth believes he had in hand.

40% Of The Prize Money Was Deducted

The original prize money for the winner of Bigg Boss Telugu 7 was Rs 50 lakh. The finalist Prince Yawar decided to leave the show after receiving a briefcase with Rs 15 lakh during the finale. So the winner's cash prize was reduced to Rs 35 lakh.

Prashanth said even this amount did not reach him in full. In his account, nearly 40 percent of the Rs 35 lakh was deducted towards taxes and GST.

The deduction greatly reduced the cash part of his prize. What appeared to be a Rs 35 lakh winning amount on television was much smaller after the applicable deductions were taken into account.

Additional Expenses On Prize Gifts

Prashanth also spoke about the other rewards that were given to him as part of his victory. Some of these gifts came with additional financial obligations.

He said the car awarded to him involved a deduction of Rs 8.5 lakh. Prashanth said he was told that he could not take possession of the vehicle until the required amount was settled.

The former Bigg Boss winner also discussed a necklace that was presented as a team gift. He said he was later asked to pay Rs 5 lakh as gift tax for the jewellery.

These costs and cash prize deductions made a big difference in the final amount he received.

Only Around Rs 7.5 Lakh Left

Prashanth said that after taxes and GST deductions and the car and necklace deductions, he was left with only around Rs 7.5 lakh from his cash prize.

His comments have raised questions among Bigg Boss viewers about the difference in advertised prize amount and actual value received by a winner. Reality shows generally focus on the total prize package during the finale, but taxes and other charges sometimes reduce the final benefit.

Prashanth's comments give a glimpse into the financial side of winning a reality show, which viewers rarely get to see after the celebrations and finale excitement are over.
