Dasara 2026 Clash: King 100 vs Vrushakarma, Vishwambara Could Change the Release Equation

The Dasara 2026 release race in Tollywood is getting more and more interesting for the Akkineni family films. Nagarjuna's landmark project King 100 and Naga Chaitanya's much-awaited Vrushakarma are being considered for a Dasara release and there is likely to be a clash and/or a release shuffle in the family.

King 100 is currently in production with Nagarjuna working on the project which marks his 100th film. Ra Karthik is the director and this film is a very big deal. The makers were considering a bigger release window rather than rushing into a crowded festive season, earlier reports said.

Naga Chaitanya is busy with Vrushakarma, the fantasy-adventure film, directed by Karthik Varma Dandu. Chaitanya stars alongside Meenakshi Chaudhary and is being positioned as a large-scale mythical spectacle. The film is still in production and its release schedule will be greatly dependent on post-production and visual effects.

King 100 or Vrushakarma are on track to make it into the Dasara 2026 window but neither one of the movies has a firm release date. For Vrushakarma in particular, post-production work could be a crucial factor for when we need the team to become ready for a major festive release.

Another major factor could be Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambara. Industry reports suggest that if Vishwambara locks on October 16, 2026 the release equation will change drastically. Many big films are already in the Dasara period and the Akkineni projects may choose to avoid direct competition and move to another release window.

The festive season is already starting to get crowded. Nani’s The Paradise is scheduled for September 25 and Venkatesh’s Aadarsha Kutumbam House No. 47 is announced for October 2. Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is also scheduled for October 15 and Vishwambara is discussed for October 16.

This means that King 100 and Vrushakarma are particularly important in terms of release planning. A crowded Dasara lineup has huge theatrical visibility but can also result in screen-sharing problems and a very high likelihood of intense competition for audience participation.

Interestingly, earlier in the year, some reports suggested that Vrushakarma could even be pushed to the end of 2026, although the official release date is not yet announced. So the Dasara possibility is now more of an industry report than a release date.

The final decision may also depend on OTT/non-theatrical commitments, production schedules and theatre availability. Industry buzz suggests that the release chart might become clearer by the first week of September.

For Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya, the coming weeks could be crucial. If Vishwambara takes the October 16 slot, both Akkineni projects may be forced to step away from the Dasara race. If Chiranjeevi takes another date, however, King 100 or Vrushakarma will be one of the major attractions of the festive season.

The Dasara 2026 race is still open for Nagarjuna's King 100 and Naga Chaitanya's Vrushakarma to finish up before the release strategy is ready. The next big updates will likely come as production progresses and the release schedule for September starts to take shape.
