After completing his next big-budget project, Varanasi, Mahesh Babu will be working with filmmaker Anil Ravipudi and could be heading for another Sankranthi release. It is still to be seen if he and the director are talking about reuniting for their next collaboration.

According to sources quoted by Gulte.com, Mahesh Babu is interested in doing a relatively quick project after Varanasi. The actor can even commit dates to the film even before the launch of Varanasi, and so the project could move forward soon if the discussions are going on and the film is finally made.
Mahesh Babu May Take a Break for Varanasi Promotions
According to reports, Mahesh Babu can take around one month away from shooting after the major portions of Varanasi are complete to focus on the film’s promotion.
Following the promotional schedule, the actor could move right into his involvement with Anil Ravipudi. If everything goes well, the film could be a prelude to a theatrical release in Sankranthi 2028.
But the project is currently in the discussion stage, and we do not have any news about the future. Details of the plot, cast, shooting schedule, and production house are yet to be confirmed.
Mahesh Babu and Anil Ravipudi’s Prior Collaboration
Mahesh Babu and Anil Ravipudi have already worked together on ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru,’ which was released during the Sankranthi season in January 2020.
The film, which also featured Rashmika Mandanna, was a commercial success and one of the most popular Telugu releases of that Sankranthi season.
The success of their first collaboration makes the Mahesh-Anil project more interesting for Telugu cinema audiences.
Why Anil Ravipudi Could Be a Good Follow-Up
Anil Ravipudi has established a reputation for making commercial entertainers that appeal very much to family audiences. His movies typically contain comedy, action, and emotional elements and a relatively accessible narrative.
The director is also known for completing his projects in relatively shorter production schedules. This could make him a suitable choice for Mahesh Babu, as the superstar is looking for a quicker film after the large-scale production of Varanasi.
After working on an ambitious project like Varanasi, a relatively compact commercial entertainer could present Mahesh Babu with a different cinematic experience.
Sankranthi 2028 release on the cards?
If the project is officially confirmed and production moves according to the current discussions, a Sankranthi 2028 release could be on the cards.
Sankranthi has historically been an important release window for Mahesh Babu, with many of his successful films coming out during the festive season. His previous collaboration with Anil Ravipudi, Sarileru Neekevvaru, also benefited from a release here.
For Anil Ravipudi, reuniting with Mahesh Babu would also represent another major opportunity to deliver a high-profile commercial entertainer.
So for now, fans have to wait for Mahesh Babu, Anil Ravipudi, or the team at the studio to confirm it. If the reports are correct, the reunion could become one of the most anticipated Telugu film projects targeting Sankranthi 2028.
