Shruti Haasan’s live social media chat has brought up the question of personal boundaries and online behaviour and the treatment of celebrities in the digital space.

Social media users have more and more argued about the line between real fan interaction and behavior that is distracting and makes other people feel uncomfortable. A celebrity being on display online does not mean viewers are entitled to make personal or suggestive demands.
The episode shows us that consent and respect in digital spaces are vital. Comments made behind a screen are still going to affect the person that receives them. What one user may find harmless or amusing is easily crossing a personal boundary for those who are not doing this.
Shruti Haasan’s calm response has therefore become the focal point of viral discussion. She appeared to have set a boundary by her actions and didn’t let an uncomfortable interaction escalate and continued with the livestream.
