Vishwambara is another major release delay from Chiranjeevi’s very soon-to-be eagerly awaited fantasy adventure Vishwambara is almost certain to get delayed yet another major release delay, with Vishwambara is not expected to be released until 2026 as much work on visual effects work is still under way on the film to be done and the film has been too much work to get released on the big stage, and there are also reports that the movie will not be released this year as the film is not expected to be released until the end of the year. The development has come as a surprise to fans who were expecting the project to make use of the strong festive season buzz around Dasara’s popularity.

Vishwambara Release Delayed Again? Chiranjeevi Film May Move to 2027

The film is one of Chiranjeevi’s most eagerly awaited projects in the upcoming line-up due to its ambitious scale, fantasy setting and heavy reliance on visual effects. That the movie has been made so eagerly awaited since its announcement is a huge surprise but it has taken so much post-production work on the film that it is still not clear when it is releasing in India.

According to the latest industry buzz, the pending VFX work may make it difficult for the makers to release Vishwambara during 2026. If the latest reports prove true, then the film will have to look at a release window after another major Chiranjeevi project Bobby’s Kaaka, which is expected in the Sankranthi 2027 season.

This could push Vishwambara into a later 2027 window.

The delay was particularly significant because Dasara had become an attractive period for a big Telugu movie release. Festive seasons are fertile ground for filmmakers to take advantage of increased audience footfalls, holidays and increased promotional activity. A huge Chiranjeevi film coming to the box office at that stage would have been quite amazing.

A VFX heavy project, in contrast, requires much more post-production time than a typical commercial film. Fantasy and adventure films rely on extensive computer-generated environments, character enhancements and action effects and large-scale sequences that can take months to complete.

Vishwambara makes sure these elements meet the quality standards for the movie to be a better quality film than to be rushed into theatres.

The project has already attracted attention for having a fantasy-adventure theme and for trying to put Chiranjeevi in a visually ambitious world. Such a film has high expectations, especially if a major star is in it.

If there is any compromise in the visual quality, it will affect the quality of the theatrical experience as a whole, and post production is what matters.

At the same time, repeated postponements can make a movie's promotional campaign challenging. Producers typically try to get a release date and generate momentum with teasers, trailers, songs, posters and other promotional materials. When the release date isn't certain, audience excitement is less likely.

That’s also difficult when the lead actor has various projects at different stages of development.

With Chiranjeevi and director Bobby’s Kaaka scheduled to be in place for Sankranthi 2027, the scheduling of Vishwambara is key. If you release two Chiranjeevi movies so close to each other, you will divide the audience and reduce the commercial impact of one or both.

As such, the makers may prefer to keep a distance between the two releases.

Vishwambara has been in the limelight for so long and so much work has gone into building up to its theatrical launch. But for fans the prospect of another delay is surely disappointing.

The film’s scale means the final release could still draw a lot of interest if the producers come up with a very good final product. Chiranjeevi is one of Telugu cinema’s biggest actors, and a good fantasy entertainer would appeal to a wide range of age groups and market segments.

The key is the VFX schedule which will be required now.

If the rest of the work goes faster than expected then the makers will still have to revisit their release plans. But if post-production is still substantial then moving the film beyond 2026 may be necessary.

So the delay is probably something to be taken for the moment as an industry news and not an official release date unless the filmmakers are to announce a new date.

But the postponement might be a major blow for a film that was hoping to make a strong festive buzz. Kaaka is targeting Sankranthi 2027 but fans may have to wait longer to see Chiranjeevi in Vishwambara.

In the end, the extra time may actually be good for the film if the VFX team can do the job to the right level. Quality is more important for a fantasy film that is full of visual spectacle, like a very good early release.

If the latest reports are true, Vishwambara could be released after Sankranthi 2027, which would be another chapter in the long and closely watched movie’s journey to theatres.
