Danielle Begins Solo Chapter With New YouTube Channel, Australia Video Fuels Solo Career Buzz
Danielle has made a step towards an independent public presence, though, and she’s started a YouTube channel that shows off her life in Australia when she’s just starting her own journey.
Danielle's first YouTube video, “Detour,” gives fans a more intimate look at the former NewJeans star than they have usually seen with the group. Danielle doesn’t just announce music and a new project in this short video, she talks about her life, family and what she wants to do in the near future.
Danielle looks relaxed in the video as she sits near a lake in Australia and addresses the camera directly. She speaks about being back in Australia and spending meaningful time with her family. It’s apparent from her casual appearance and conversation that the video is meant to be about a person’s transition as well as to be a new entertainment venture.
Danielle’s big talking point in the video is going on her own adventure. She also says she’s getting ready for her first solo trip and Brisbane and Cairns are among the destinations in her itinerary. Danielle hasn’t linked the trip to any particular professional project yet, but her talk of going solo has naturally triggered a lot of speculation on what could come next.
Danielle could open a personal YouTube channel to present herself in front of fans and show off aspects of her personality that are not on display as a member of a group. And she could also be able to create different kinds of content - travel, lifestyle and music projects - but there is no official evidence that the channel is at the start of a solo music career.
Danielle will have to wait for fans to know what she wants to do professionally. She hasn’t announced a solo album, debut single, new entertainment agency or any kind of formal solo artist work. Her recent video seems to be all about her personal journey and future travel plans.
Danielle’s new start comes at the same time as NewJeans and ADOR have been going through a lot of problems. The singer was removed from the agency after the contract and management were in dispute. ADOR terminated Danielle's exclusive contract in December 2025, which was an extreme turning point in her relationship with the label.
The contractual fallout was followed by more legal action. ADOR filed a damages suit against Danielle, a member of her family and former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin. The dispute has been widely covered and yet the legal fight is pending.
But NewJeans' public activities have increasingly pointed towards a four-member lineup of Minji, Hanni, Haerin and Hyein. The four were featured in anniversary-related content released in July, while Danielle was not included following the termination of her contract.
Danielle's decision to start a YouTube channel that her fans know well is as big as her career. A platform such as this might better allow her to express herself and get her fans on the same page and decide what she is going to do next.
Danielle’s “Detour” video, for now, seems less about making a major career announcement and more about documenting a personal transition. What she did in Australia, her family and her upcoming trip reveal a different side of the performer.
We will see if this new chapter will eventually lead Danielle to a solo music career. What is clear is that the former NewJeans member is now going into life beyond the group’s previous work and her new YouTube channel could be a portal for fans to follow through with the band.
Danielle will keep sharing updates, but we know that her trip and new online identity is going to make her a bigger entertainment star, and there will always be a period of speculation about her solo career until she makes public.
