Dave Bautista Unleashes His Kratos Physique: ‘Two More Months to Get Where I Need to Be’
Dave Bautista is stepping up his fitness routine to play Kratos in Prime Video's upcoming live-action “God of War” series.
The actor has shown me his body transformation in which he still has a lot of training ahead before he can get the physique he wants from the character.
Bautista recently posted a workout video showing his progress after returning to weight training. He is currently three weeks into the process and expects to spend another two months building his physique, he said.
“3rd week in to weight training again. 2 more months to get to where I need to be,” Bautista wrote in his social media post, ending with an energetic “LFG!”
The update was noticed by fans from the start, especially those who know Bautista from his professional wrestling days.
The new physique he has in recent years is drastically different from the leaner one he was in the past.
The actor has already undergone very physical changes for different roles, most notably as Drax in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ films. And that knowledge of the rigorous training he went through could also help him in the physical demands of Kratos.
Kratos is probably the most well known character in video games. The Spartan warrior is tall and imposing and his fighting style is relentless. So Bautista’s physical preparation will be important in making him real on screen.
Dave Bautista Takes Over as Kratos
Bautista’s casting came after a change in the production of God of War. Ryan Hurst, who was going to play Kratos, left the project after an injury while filming, according to sources.
With Bautista taking over the role, parts of the series that had already been filmed with Hurst are expected to be reshot.
This puts more pressure on Bautista to quickly settle into the character while also undergoing his physical transformation.
There's extensive experience in professional wrestling in the physical aspect of professional wrestling and Bautista has a lot in that area.
In Hollywood, he has also performed in action-heavy films, demonstrating his ability to handle physically intense roles.
What to Expect From the ‘God of War’ Series
Prime Video’s God of War is based on Sony's classic video-game franchise. The story will follow Kratos and his son, Atreus, as they travel through a dangerous world filled with mythology, powerful enemies and emotional challenges.
At the heart of all this is the complicated relationship between Kratos and Atreus. In addition to the big-scale action and mythology, the series will look at the relationship between father and son.
Bautista’s latest training update suggests that fans have not yet seen his final Kratos look.
With two more months of weight training planned, his physique could change considerably before his transformation is complete.
But the actor appears to be taking on the challenge. As he gets his training on, fans will be waiting to see if Bautista will be at his peak as one of gaming’s most legendary warriors.
