Made in Korea 2: Hyun Bin and Woo Do-hwan Head for a Brotherly Showdown
Made in Korea returns for a second season with a dark story of ambition, power and betrayal.
Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung and Woo Do-hwan are behind the Disney+ crime thriller but this time it takes the story forward nine years and brings the central characters into a much tougher struggle.
In Season 2, the central character of Baek Ki-tae is Hyun Bin in the lead spot.
He is now atop the ladder of power after years of climbing it, and more confident and ruthless than ever before; Ki-tae is at the top of the ladder of power after so many years in business and he’s more confident and ruthless.
But his growing desires are destroying the relationships with those he has around him and damaging his relationship with his younger brother Baek Ki-hyun (Woo Do-hwan).
Ki-hyun is no longer the same principled soldier audiences saw in the first season. Nine years later he has risen to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Security Command.
And yet, his position is a more difficult one now, as he finds himself torn between his family and his own principles.
The relationship between the two brothers is expected to become one of the most epic emotional conflicts of the new season.
The promotional material has said that Ki-hyun will find it hard to keep up with his brother when the pursuit of power becomes more and more dangerous. He can’t simply follow Ki-tae he has to know whether he is loyal or not.
The tension is even heightened by Jang Geon-young returning as Jung Woo-sung. Geon-young has spent nine years preparing for his counterattack since the end of Season 1.
Unlike his former obsession, he now appears calmer and more calculating, thus creating a threat to Ki-tae’s ambitions.
All of the new trailers and promotional materials indicate that we are heading toward a three-way conflict of power, family and personal convictions. Ki-tae’s rise is the cause of war with military forces, and Geon-young fights against his growing power. Meanwhile, Ki-hyun is a big variable between the two sides.
There will be six episodes in season 2, with the first two to be aired on September 9, 2026 and two episodes each on September 16 and September 23.
The new season is anticipated to expand the political and crime-driven world established in the first installment, and also to add new characters and shake up alliances.
The central question would be whether Ki-hyun would continue protecting his brother or finally oppose him.
With Hyun Bin’s excellent portrayal of Ki-tae, Woo Do-hwan’s conflicted character and Jung Woo-sung’s calculated return, Made in Korea 2 is going to be a tense continuation with betrayals and power struggles.
Such a divide between the two brothers could be the theme of the season for Korean crime thrillers.
