She died in her long-standing agent Phil Belfield, who paid tribute to the great actor in a statement to the BBC.

"We will never see her like again, and the world is lesser for the lack of her,” Belfield said. “I was honoured to know, love and work with her, and she will always have a place in my heart and the heart of so many film and TV lovers everywhere.”

Brenda Fricker was the first Irish actress to win an Academy Award in 1990 when she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Bridget Fagan Brown, Christy Brown's devoted mother, in the film My Left Foot. The movie with Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the best biographical dramas in cinema, and Fricker’s emotionally rich performance received critical and public acclaim from critics.

In her Oscar-winning role as Ireland’s finest actress, Fricker had also become a familiar character for a younger generation with Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) as the mysterious but kind-hearted Pigeon Lady with Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister. She was warm and emotional in the holiday classic, and the character is one of the most memorable from the movie series.

Fricker has been a star in films and television shows for more than forty years. A Time to Kill, Angels in the Outfield, So I Married an Axe Murderer, Albert Nobbs, and others are among her notable credits. She was known for a compassionate, tough, and deeply human picture.

Brenda Fricker was born in Dublin to start her career as a journalist before she turned to acting. She was on stage and screen very soon and became one of Ireland’s most well-known actors as a very emotional actor. She is a movie star with that emotional honesty that you just look at what people love in movies.

Tributes from other actors, filmmakers, and fans have poured in since her death. Many remembered her not just as a professional actor but also as a kind, humble person, and her work left a lasting impression on generations of movie lovers.

Brenda Fricker’s legacy is bigger than any awards. She was a dedicated mother in an Oscar-winning drama or a kind and thoughtful Pigeon Lady in a Christmas classic that really connected with audiences— the kindest and most genuine.

Brenda Fricker is now in the past, and so will she be. She was one of the greatest actors in Irish film, television, and theatre, so her life will not be forgotten.
