Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey Crosses ₹83 Crore Gross in India, Records Director's Biggest Opening Weekend

The Odyssey has enjoyed a fantastic opening weekend in India with over ₹83.14 crore gross (₹69.65 crore net) in all languages within four days of release. It is Christopher Nolan's biggest opening in India, surpassing the director's previous releases and reaffirming his huge fan base as well.

The English-language adaptation has been the main driver of the film’s impressive collections as people want to see it in IMAX and other large-screen venues. Early bookings, good word of mouth, and Nolan’s passionate audience have kept the film moving forward well into the weekend.

The Odyssey India Box Office Collection (First Four Days). Day 1 (Friday): ₹17.40 crore net (₹20.75 crore gross). Day 2 (Saturday): ₹22.00 crore net (₹26.27 crore gross). Day 3 (Sunday): ₹21.90 crore net (₹26.16 crore gross). Day 4 (Monday): ₹8.35 crore net (approx.)

Total (4 Days):

Net Collection: ₹69.65 crore
Gross Collection: ₹83.14 crore

The film witnessed big growth on its opening weekend and Saturday and Sunday collections comfortably crossed the ₹21 crore mark. Monday saw a decrease in numbers after the weekend but the film still had a healthy ₹8.35 crore net, which shows that the audience still feels like it’s there.

The Odyssey has benefited from Christopher Nolan’s strong brand recognition in India, industry experts believe. Oppenheimer, Interstellar, Dunkirk, and Tenet have created an audience that has built up a huge fan base, and the latest release has continued that trend with a record-breaking start.

The film’s visually stunning look, grand storytelling, and immersive cinematic experience have also led to a lot of premium formats, which made it very profitable. There are numerous multiplex chains in major cities where we have seen very high occupancy—especially for English-language screenings.

Trade analysts are optimistic about the film’s long-term future in the industry, as positive reviews and audience feedback are still very strong, and ticket sales are high. If it stays firm on weekdays and has a strong second weekend, The Odyssey is expected to become a box office driver for the Indian box office in the long term.

With ₹83.14 crore gross already in the bag, Christopher Nolan has once more proved his undimmed popularity among Indian moviegoers. The record-breaking opening weekend of the film tells us that premium Hollywood releases in India are still in demand, so it is certainly in line for one of the biggest Hollywood box office hits of 2026.
