Salman Khan’s blockbuster Kick has just finished 12 years in Bollywood and it is still one of Bollywood’s biggest commercial entertainment hits. The film premiered on 25 July 2014 and was the first movie of Sajid Nadiadwala as director, and became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of its time.
In Kick, Salman Khan played Devi Lal Singh, an adventurous thrill-seeker who transforms into the devil-like masked vigilante known as Devil. Combining action, comedy, romance and high-octane entertainment in a film with action, comedy and a lot of action. Jacqueline Fernandez played opposite Salman in Kick and Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui had great supporting roles.
The movie was filled with hit songs so popular even today. Tracks like Jumme Ki Raat became instant party anthems, and Salman’s soulful version of “Hangover” was a glimpse of the superstar.
So Kick, with a budget of ₹140 crore, was a huge box office hit with a total of ₹351.80 crore worldwide. It also had a strong 2.41 crore footfalls in India and Salman Khan’s first ₹200-crore net grosser at the box office. The film eventually ended up as the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2014 and further cemented Salman’s dominance at the box office.
The movie also has several interesting stories from the film behind the scenes. Over 300 versions of Devil’s mask were made in the production team, including the most iconic design we see at the end of the movie. Actor Randeep Hooda took 27 takes for his first shot in the film and animators looked to Salman Khan's childhood photographs to nail certain visual elements.
Kick has remained a cult favorite for over a decade. And on the 12th anniversary of the movie, there are so many great scenes, songs, fan edits, and behind-the-scenes photos of the movie’s history to celebrate. New audiences are also rediscovering the blockbuster on Netflix.
Kick is still one of Salman Khan’s most iconic entertainment films with some of the biggest moments ever to come in the film, with big-screen action and great music, stylish presentation and record-breaking box office.
