Vishwanath & Sons OTT Release on September 11: Meet Sanjay Vishwanath, the Athlete, Billionaire and Loving Father
As Sanjay Vishwanath, the central character of Suriya’s Vishwanath & Sons, a successful athlete, businessman, philanthropist and devoted father whose carefully planned life is thrown into doubt by family duties, ageing and an unanticipated relationship.
Vishwanath & Sons, directed by Venky Atluri, stars Suriya as the protagonist, along with Mamitha Baiju, Radhikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon and a great supporting cast. The Tamil-Telugu family drama was released on August 14, 2026.
The Sanjay Vishwanath character is based around a contrast. He is a successful, financially secure individual and has worked very hard in professional and sporting life. But his life is emotionally based and revolves around family, relationships and what matters most in life.
Sanjay is at the peak as a professional shooter and sports will be one of his biggest gifts. His love of shooting reflects that competitive character. But when he realizes that life is catching up with him, he can’t go back in time.
Sanjay is also a rich businessman and philanthropist in the film. But his life is not perfect. His wealth can’t shield him from emotional friction or family woes, or tough choices.
At the heart of the story is Sanjay as a father. When he starts to go through a family-oriented journey with Maddy, played by Mamitha Baiju who is very much a part of his carefully planned world. Their relationship develops in the context of a very big age difference, adding another emotional hurdle for Sanjay.
What does Sanjay do when the life he’s built for himself and his family starts to get disrupted and all that he’s built for himself and his family is changing? His sporting aspirations, family and personal relationships are all at odds with each other and so he needs to re-evaluate his priorities.
Suriya’s portrayal of Sanjay is not just that of a rich athlete. It’s based on fatherhood, love, ageing, ambition, family, second chances. The question is if professional success and material wealth are enough to provide fulfilment— and if it’s ever too late to make big changes in life.
Vishwanath & Sons also marks Suriya’s collaboration with director Venky Atluri who has also directed films like Vaathi and Lucky Baskhar. The movie is a story of family drama and romance with Sanjay’s sporting background rather than a sports movie.
As the movie is so unusual in terms of its protagonist, Sanjay is presented as a successful professional, expert shooter, wealthy person and father who is going through difficult family situations.
The film is in Netflix’s hands right now, but the exact date of when it will be released is not known. One recent report indicates September 11 and others say Netflix’s official announcement of the date was still being speculated about. And there are also reports that Netflix’s official announcement of when the date was still waiting for Netflix to announce it, and even on September 14.
Sanjay Vishwanath isn’t just a rich guy in a rich man’s world. And if you’re able to see the character in the film’s digital release, Sanjay Vishwanath’s story is about the gap between having everything materially and knowing what’s actually valuable to you personally.
Vishwanath & Sons is now moving from cinema to streaming, and Suriya’s Sanjay Vishwanath is going to reach an even wider audience. His life as an athlete, billionaire, philanthropist and father forms the emotional core of a story that asks an important question: When life forces you to choose between ambition, family and love, what matters most?
