Prabhas' much-anticipated film Spirit is still on track to be released on March 5, 2027, and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has dismissed speculation about a delay.

The upcoming action drama has been generating massive attention since Prabhas and Vanga came together for the project. With Vanga's reputation for making films such as Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh and Animal, Spirit has got a lot of buzz among Prabhas fans and the trade.
As a result, the movie could be pushed from its scheduled release date due to the shooting schedule. Now Vanga has said nothing has changed for the future.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga Gives Spirit Update
When promoting his production company Romanchakam, which is set for release on September 3, Vanga was asked about Spirit's progress and speculation about its development.
The filmmaker dismissed postponement rumours and maintained that the film is progressing according to schedule.
Vanga said about 50 days of shooting have already been completed, while another 65 days of filming are left.
That puts the total planned shooting schedule at around 115 to 120 days, which is a relatively tight timeframe for a large-scale production featuring a major star like Prabhas.
Although the film is so busy, the director seems confident the remaining parts can be done, and nothing will be delayed from being released when we’ve said it is.
65 days of shooting remain
The next major phase for Spirit will be the completion of 65 days of filming.
Prabhas is currently working on Fauzi, his upcoming project with filmmaker Hanu Raghavapudi. Once he finishes his parts for Fauzi, the actor is expected to return to Spirit and resume work on Vanga's film.
Based on the current plan, we believe that the production team could complete the entire shooting schedule within about five months.
The timeline will still need careful coordination because Spirit is expected to be mounted on a large scale and involves one of India's biggest stars.
Why is a March 2027 release still possible?
One way that could work in favour of the production schedule is Vanga's approach to filmmaking.
Unlike many big-scale Indian movies that rely heavily on computer-generated imagery and long visual-effects pipelines, Vanga is known to prefer a relatively grounded approach to CGI requirements.
If Spirit does not require an unusually long post-production period, completing the remaining shoot in the next few months could leave enough time for editing, dubbing, background score, sound design and other finishing work.
But big productions still encounter unexpected delays, so it will be the final release schedule that will ultimately depend on how smoothly the rest of the production and post-production process works.
Prabhas has Two Major Films Upcoming
Prabhas has two of the most anticipated projects - Fauzi and Spirit - in the pipeline.
The actor is working on Fauzi, which is being directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. After completing his commitments to that project, he will focus back on Spirit.
We are really excited for the two films; you know they have filmmakers with very distinctive storytelling styles to work with.
Fauzi is from Hanu Raghavapudi, but Spirit is Prabhas’ collaboration with Vanga, whose previous movies have been well-known to audiences.
Huge Expectations From Spirit
Since Spirit was announced at the beginning of the project, the expectations have been high.
Vanga’s previous films have been known to have strong characters, very emotional storytelling, and dramatic acting. So his association with Prabhas has raised many questions about how the director will present the actor.
Prabhas, however, is looking to achieve another big success after his recent releases and has many ambitious projects in development.
The combination of Prabhas’ pan-India appeal and Vanga’s established filmmaking style has made Spirit one of the most closely watched upcoming Telugu films.
Will Vanga Stick To The Release Date?
Vanga’s comments indicate that the team has no plans to change the release date of March 5, 2027.
Completing 65 days of shooting over the next few months will be the immediate challenge. Post-production will then have to move quickly enough to meet the theatrical deadline.
The director’s confidence indicates that the team has already thought about the schedule and they think the remaining work can be completed within the available window.
But this will ultimately depend on the actual pace of production in the months to come.
What Prabhas fans can expect?
In the current state of Prabhas fans, the news of a delay is welcomed by Prabhas fans; it’s good news for Prabhas fans to see that there is some relief after the delay.
The actor is expected to return to the Spirit sets after completing his work on Fauzi, while Vanga continues the project's production.
With around 50 shooting days already completed and 65 days left to go, the film is well past the beginning stage of production.
If the team keeps its current schedule, Spirit could arrive in theatres on March 5, 2027 (as announced).
So far Vanga’s message is clear: there has been no change in the release plan, and Spirit is on track for its theatrical debut.
